The golf course at Shannopin Country Club opened for play in September of 1920. The original golf course was nine holes, covering approximately the same territory as the front nine today. The course was designed by Emil Loeffler & John McGlynn. An additional nine were added after the acquisition of more land. Ferdinand Garbin redesigned the course in 1986.
Shannopin is a hilly course with numerous trees that can alter your shots. The greens are average-sized and heavily bunkered. The fairways are average width and bordered by a thick cut of rough. In addition, numerous sand bunkers protect both the fairways and greens.
Shannopin Country Club golf course plays to 6,361 yards and a par-71. The course rating is 71.0 and the slope rating is 128.
